Course Objectives

Provider of Care :
Interpret how the basic human needs of clients and families within a community based setting are affected by alterations in Homeostasis.
Examine how concepts of community based nursing are applied to developing an individualized plan of care for the diverse client/family in a variety of community based settings.
Examine the application of the nursing process to individualized community based care of the client/family
Examine the roles, functions, and legal, and ethical issues the apply to the nurse in community based practice.
Coordinator of Care
Examine the coordination and management of human and material resources to provide quality community based nursing care.
Examine leadership and management principles that are used in community based nursing care.
Identify appropriate community based referral resources to assist the community based client and family in meeting health and ensure continuity of care.

Quizzes and/or other assignments 10%
Unit Examinations 4 exams X15% 60%
Comprehensive Final 30%

Grading System of A.D. N. Program
A=90-100%
B=80-89%
C=75-79%

No make up examinations will be given. If a unit examination is missed because of illness or emergency, the percentage from the unit exam will be added to the final exam. The student must earn an overall grade of 75% or greater in order to pass the course. It is the student’s responsibility to be sure that all the exam questions have been answered prior to leaving the class room.

Attendance Policy
Classroom attendance is required at each of the scheduled on campus sessions.
