What is JAMP?
- Created by the Texas Legislature to support and encourage economically disadvantaged students pursuing a medical education
What does JAMP provide?
- $1,000 scholarship per semester as an undergraduate
- $2,000 stipend for summer internships as an undergraduate
- Mentoring and personal assistance
- Provides conditional admission to participating medical schools
- Medical school scholarship
How do I become a JAMP student?
- Meet with the Premed Advisor at UTB, contact information below
- Graduating high school seniors or students with a high school degree from a home-schooled program must enroll, for the fall semester, immediately following graduation, at one of the public or private participating colleges or universities
- As a freshman in college the student must complete at least 27 hours of undergraduate credit during the freshman year with a 3.25 GPA or higher and 3.25 GPA in science courses (No more than 3 hours of AP credit can be counted toward this requirement).
- Sign an "Intent to Apply"
- Attend all the Pre JAMP workshop
- Application Deadline October
What is needed for JAMP?
- Complete the online application
- Notify UTB/TSC OPEP
- SAT or ACT scores
- Transcripts, high school and UTB/TSC
- 3 letters of recommendation

As a JAMP student you will:
- Sign an agreement with JAMP Council
- UTB/TSC graduation in 4 years
- Maintain a GPA of 3.25
- Score the Texas average on MCAT
- Attend summer internships
- Regular meetings with JAMP Faculty Director
- Apply for admission to participating medical schools
- Satisfy requirements for medical school
