Early Medical School Acceptance Program (EMSAP)EMSAP Applications now available........................ Application Deadline January 31, 2008

EMSAP is a program developed to assist students from the Lower Rio Grande Valley in gaining early admission to medical school at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. EMSAP also prepares the students for medical school while completing a bachelor's degree at The University of Texas at Brownsville and Texas Southmost College. The students should meet a list of requirements to be selected and remain in the program. Up to five students are selected per year.

EMSAP Purpose

  • Assist students for the Lower Rio Grande Valley in preparing for the medical School Curriculum
  • Complete a bachelor's degree at UTB/TSC
  • Gain admission to medical school at UTMB, Galveston

How do I become a EMSAP student?

  • Meet with the Premed Advisor at UTB, contact information below
  • Graduating high school seniors or students with a high school degree from a home-schooled program must apply prior to graduation, deadline January 31 of each year
  • Have an 3.25 GPA science and overall (on a 4.0 scale)
  • Have a SAT of 1200 or ACT of 19
  • Be a Texas resident
