Overview

As a student in the Educational Technology program, you will be expected to upload your projects to a server for other students to view and for assessment purposes. If you have never done this type of activity before, don't worry. Uploading to the Komodo Server is not hard to do.

With the new version of Explorer, it is simply a matter of dragging and dropping - just like moving a file from one folder to another or to a flash drive. Carefully follow the steps below, and you will be an uploading pro in a very short time. If you would prefer to use an FTP software to upload your projects into Komodo, you will find information about how to do this by going to the TeleCampus FTP Publishing page.

Steps 1 and 2: Opening to the ftp page.

The first task that you need to do is open Explorer to the correct page. Enter the following into the address bar: ftp://komodo.utsystem.edu.

You can copy and paste the address above into the bar, then hit Enter or just click on the link above.

Next, double-click to open the med folder.

Step 5: Finding your folder

A list of folders will open (yours may appear as icons, rather than a list). Find your folder; they are alphabetized by first initial of first name, then last name.  When you find your folder, double click on your folder to open it.

Step 6: Uploading into your folder

Your folder on the Komodo server will then open. From here, all you need to do is drag and drop any file you want to add.

Please note: The folder that contains the files you want to upload must be opened by you. It will not automatically appear (as in the picture below).

Step 7: File copying onto the server

You will see a window indicating the status of the file(s) being copied. This window will disappear when the copying is complete and you will then see your file(s) in your folder on the Komodo server.

Step 8: Finding your URL and posting it to the appropriate page

In the address bar of your opened Komodo file, you will  find your serever URL. To allow others to view your project by posting your URL to the wiki, you will first need to:

Using the example below, the URL would be http://komodo.utsystem.edu/med/jbutler/index.html. This would be the address you post.

IMPORTANT: Before you post it, please try it yourself to see if it works. You can do this by pasting the address as you think it should be into a new browser window. If the project or page appear, you can then post it. If you get a Page not found message, then go back and carefully check what you have typed and correct the URL. When you have the correct URL, you can post it in the wiki on the appropriate page.
