School of Health Sciences offers a graduate program of study leading to
the Master of Science in Nursing which produces a nursing leader in the
areas of public health, nursing education, or nursing administration.
The program curriculum
is offered in collaboration with The University of Texas Science
Center Houston School of Public Health and The University of Texas at
Brownsville’s School of Business and School of Education.

Department Mission
In
keeping with the mission of the University of Texas at Brownsville and
Texas Southmost College and the mission of the School of Health
Sciences, the mission of the Department of Nursing is to provide high
quality vocational, associate, undergraduate and graduate nursing
education programs which are fostered and exemplified by excellence in
teaching, service and research.. The aim is to facilitate educational
access and academic excellence through innovative delivery systems that
are learner-centered, success-oriented, and technologically-responsive.

Mission
In keeping with
the mission of the University, goals of the Graduate program, and
Mission of the School of Health Sciences, the mission of the Master of
Science in Nursing Program is to provide a high quality nursing
education program that prepares graduates to practice graduate level
Nursing and to assume leadership roles in the provision of health care
to the Rio Grande Valley Region and other areas of Texas and the
southwest.
