Educators have enough to worry about in using
technology in the classroom without having to fight the battle for
funding. Thus, this page is devoted to software applications that are free (frequently Open Source - so if you have some spare time to write source for them, you can) and easy to use. The easy to use part is critical for several reasons. In encouraging teachers (who are sometimes intimidated by technology) to integrate technology, we want the learning curve to be small and the possibility of the program "messing" up to be minimal. So take a look at some of the programs I have mined from the Net and enjoy. Presentation Software Photo Story 3 - for Windows XP users, this program lets users create movies using still images. The link above will provide screen shots to guide you through the process of creating your first digital story using Photo Story 3. Click here to download program. Audio Editing Software How to use audio editor WavePad - guide for editing your audio to be used on Photo Story 3. Will provide information on using special effects, mixing music and more. This FREE program is user friendly and can be quickly mastered by a novice. AudioFlash allows you to quickly and easily add audio to your website by creating MP3 compressed audio files and a set of Play, Pause and Stop buttons (SWF Flash) enabling visitors to have complete control over the audio. I have not tested this yet, but it looks like it has potential. Photo/Image Editing Software PhotoFiltre is free and easy to use image editing program. Take a look at the BETA tutorial and give me feedback on changes that need to be made. If something doesn't make sense, let me know. |

Streaming Video Software
Found this one at TCEA
- and it is awesome. Called
Wink, it is easy to use and
will record all screen and audio activity on your computer and convert
it to flash or html for interactive simulations. The Help section has
two awesome tutorials that will teach you how to use it. This is
the first
tutorial that I created. |
