Interactive Map: The World of Gilgamesh

This map is a thumbnail map showing the area that most scholars describe as the "Fertile Crescent," an area in antiquity that was much more favorable to agriculture than surrounding desert and mountain regions. It covers much of the modern region known as the Middle East, including modern Iraq and neighboring countries. Uruk, the city of Gilgamesh, was in the southern part of the map.
